Anderson County’s arts and culture is very eclectic ranging from quilts to pottery, from handcarved items to antiques, from orchestras to blue grass and from ballet to clogging.  Whatever your taste, Anderson County will feed your hunger for the arts. 

Appalachian Arts and Crafts

The center was founded in 1970 to enrich the souls and pocketbooks of low-income people in Anderson County, by teaching, producing, and selling hand crafts. Today the center is an educational facility and shop where local artisans and visitors can gather to share creative ideas and talents in order to keep traditional crafts alive.

Countless hours can be spent strolling through Clinton’s Historic District and shopping at the over 35 stores that feature antique, collectible and many other unique shops on Market and Main Streets.

The Shop at the Museum Of Appalachia

The people of the Appalachian Mountains started making arts and crafts out of necessity or as gifts for loved ones such as candles for light or a doll for a child. You can find many of the same items today at the Shop at the Museum of Appalachia where items for purchase are handcrafted by people of the Appalachian region.

Oak Ridge Art Center

Oak Ridge Civic Ballet

The Oak Ridge Civic Ballet Association (ORCBA) was organized in 1963 and is the oldest continuously chartered non-profit dance organization in Tennessee. While classical ballet is the primary art form performed at the ORCBA, modern, character, and ethnic dance have also shared the ORCBA stage.

Established in 1943, visitors can enjoy many performances throughout the year by talented vocational and professional musicians of the Oak Ridge Symphony and Oak Ridge Chorus.

Oak Ridge Community Orchestra

The Community Orchestra showcases the talent of local area performers and composers at as many as six concerts per year.

Oak Ridge Community Playhouse

Still going strong after 58 years, the playhouse offers visitors as many as 20 annual productions at their award winning playhouse. Located in Historic Jackson Square, the playhouse is a perfect place to enjoy some evening entertainment. Office hours: Monday-Friday, 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Ritz Theater

Opened in 1945, the Ritz was one of the most modern theaters in the South. First-run movies, concerts, gospel singings, receptions and miscellaneous meetings. The Ritz Theater is on the National Register of Historic places.
